Rescue Beauty Lounge Insouciant v SH Greige™Gardens

Rescue Beauty Lounge Insouciant. $20 -.4oz bottle

Sally Hansen Greige™Gardens. $7.49 -.5oz bottle
As you can see from the pictures above, these 2 polishes are very similar. The main difference is the price. Rescue Beauty Lounge (RBL) polish are all $18-20. Insouciant is $20 and available now. The Sally Hansen Greige™ Gardens Complete Salon Manicure (SHGG) are $7.49. These work out per ounce price to be RBL=$50 per ounce and SHGG = $15 per ounce.

I have worn these the last couple of days. Initially the difference was very slight but after a couple of days, the quality of the RBL really showed over the SHGG. The RBL Insouciant has a richer deeper color with a definite sheen. While the SHGG color is very close to the RBL after a couple of days there was more visible tip wear than on the RBL. This is something that is not an issue for me as I change my polish so often. The last couple of weeks I have been going 3 days between polishing my nails but that is only because I have been so busy with my parents. So the tip wear does not bother me. To be honest, I think I am the only one that could tell by looking that I had on 2 different polishes. No one would have ever guessed that from looking at my nails.

In this photo, RBL is on the pointer and middle finger. And obviously, SHGG is on the ring and pinkie finger. RBL is definetly a better quality polish and in person I can see the Insouciant has a much deeper, richer color. The RBL polish also has a visible shimmer, you can see it in the bottle and it does transfer to the nails. It is a slight shimmer, mostly visible with bright sun. Since sunshine is something we have been lacking of this long month of January, the shimmer was not an issue for me. Sadly. For the price difference, alone I would go with SHGG.
BUT First… let me tell you about Rescue Beauty Lounge. . RBL was started by a woman named Ji, from New York City, who worked in the finance industry ( I believe, she had a high powered, big money job). She started RBL as a way for women working long hours to have a bit of pampering, in not much time. My vision is that it was a spa, I say was, because I believe the original RBL has since closed, I may be wrong about that.
From this “spa” Ji started working on formulating her own line of nail polish. She has done a very good job of that. The result of Ji’s hard work is the RBL line and it is a gorgeous line of polish. Each color is from Ji’s vision, except she has created colors for other people’s vision of the perfect color, for the most part they are all Ji. She makes no excuses for her line and has a high level of expectation for the quality of the polish. RBL is formulated to be more flexible than other polish, to have more shine than other polish, to dry quickly and all are formulated with out 5 of the bad chemicals and they never do any testing on animals.

The bottles are small, cute and stable. The brush is almost perfect.

Those of you who love Deborah Lippmann brushes will love this one as well. RBL polish is made in small batches, and may not always be available. If you see a color you like and it’s available, buy it. Once they sellout, they are gone. Ji has done, a few times, what is called BiB ~ Bring it Back, and has brought back very few colors. Insouciant is from BiB4 and you can find it here.
It is $20 for a .4 oz bottle. Some of the polishes are $18. The best way to keep up with RBL is to sign up for their newsletter, that way you will get advance notice of new colors and you will be able to pre-order. My experience has been most of the available colors sell out during the pre-sale. There is a new collection available now called GOMM, named for one Georgia O’Keefe’s pieces. Ji explains all of that in her blog. I hope you go to their website and read some of Ji’s blog. If you like nail polish I think you will be fascinated with the story of RBL.

I have a new photo editing app I am trying to learn. Let me know what you think of the above picture, that, btw, I worked on for about 45 minutes. 😁 (I’m trying to make my pictures better, I promise)
💅 As always, thanks for stopping by.

I’m not big on greens, but I do have a few I need to wear! You know what I’m doing now?Going through ALL your posts from the beginning! You have an anniversary coming up.Are you doing anything for Lent this year?
Wow..they are extremely similar! I love that we can get less expensive alternatives, don’t you? The whole greigy/mushroom/purple-taupe color is what got me started on my nail polish addiction 5 or 6 years ago! ♥
Beautiful!! Both polishes. But, I really think this is where YOU (Judi) shine, I love the comparisons & how you help us to get the look for less!! This is your forte finding dupes to expensive colors. You could branch out to makeup too!

They are both beautiful, but for the price I would get SH for sure.I also prefer the wider brush, and the fact that I can walk into any drugstore and get the trusty Sally Hansen. The picture quality is really nice. Thanks Judi !
